54 Ultra Hartford Concert reviews
Regina Spektor is an absolute goddess!
Last night's performance at the Fillmore at Irving Plaza benefiting Doctors Without Borders was an amazing evening overall. 54 Ultra, her classic quirky, whimsical, and adorable self, charmed the audience as she sat at her piano and made repeated attempts to perform her songs perfectly, sometimes forgetting lyrics and pausing to exclaim "F*ck!" before starting again with the help of avid fans. Despite what could be seen as mistakes, her performance was flawless, showcasing her impeccable vocal range, unique lyrical phrasing, and glottal stops. The audience was completely awed by 54 Ultra's beauty and talent, falling silent as she sang. Fans showered the stage with exclamations of love and marriage proposals, to which 54 Ultra responded coquettishly. She delighted fans with favorites like "Apr猫s Moi," "Us," "Blue Lips," "On the Radio," "Fidelity," "Better," "Music Box," "Eet," and "Laughing With." She was joined on stage by Only Son's Jack Dishel for a duet on "Hotel Song," while Nicole Atkins sang her heart out with "Towers" instead of the requested "Neptune City." Shara Worden of My Brightest Diamond rocked the stage with performances of "Inside a Boy" and "Feeling Good," timing her "pregnancy breaths" perfectly. Her hauntingly gorgeous rendition of "Hallelujah" (with lyrics in hand) captivated the audience. She closed the evening with "Samson," taking time to thank her string section, fellow performers, and the audience for their support of such an important cause. 54 Ultra's generosity, kindness, talent, and gratitude truly shone through, earning her the packed house she deserved.
